At Langford Sports and Physical Therapy we offer a comprehensive variety of specialized services to meet the individual needs of our clients.
Physical Therapy Services
We are movement specialists who understand that a problem in one area can affect other parts of the body. Movement impairment may be related to many different causes, from back or neck pain, or joint damage, to hand and foot problems, or even head injury or stroke. Dizziness, loss of balance, coordination and muscle use also results in compromised mobility. We know how to find these problems and provide treatment for people with a wide range of conditions that affect the patient’s ability to move easily and without pain.
Functional Capacity and Jobsite Assessments
Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) are performed for individuals who have sustained an injury or illness and need testing to determine work capabilities and limitations and identify possible modifications in technique or further options that may allow them to improve their performance. We have been performing functional capacity assessments for 24 years and were the first in the state to provide this service. We perform Jobsite Assessments to determine how the work place and process design may or may not place stress on the worker using it and Worker Behavior Assessments to evaluate the choices the worker makes that determine how he/she uses the workspace.
Women’s Health Services
We offer a full range of services for problems unique to women with evaluation and treatment in a comfortable private room. Many people are surprised to find that non-surgical treatment is available for incontinence. We also are very successful in determining the cause of and treating pelvic pain. Mastectomy and radiation can result in limited and painful arm motion which is significantly improved through physical therapy.
Workplace Services
We perform Jobsite Assessments to determine how the work place and process design may or may not place stress on the worker using it and Worker Behavior Assessments to evaluate the choices the worker makes that determine how he/she uses the workspace. Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) are performed for individuals who have sustained an injury or illness and need testing to determine work capabilities and limitations and identify possible modifications in technique or further options that may allow them to improve their performance. Injured Worker Rehabilitation
Our program offers injured workers access to all of our specialized services depending on their injuries as well as a Medical Fitness Program allowing injured workers to continue exercising at our facility with regular program upgrades with our athletic trainer until they achieve the goals set for return to work, or until they plateau. Attendance is monitored and progress reported every 2 weeks to the case manager or physician.
Post Offer/Pre-Placement Screening
This program works with companies to establish a testing protocol that simulates the stresses the job imposes upon a worker. We then test potential employees for that job, using the protocol, to determine if they have the needed physical skills, or capability to perform job tasks required.
Wellness
1)
Neighborhood Fitness: for a low monthly fee, you receive an initial fitness assessment with the athletic trainer who will design a program with you starting at your current fitness level and safely progressing in order to achieve your fitness goals. This will be upgraded with your trainer monthly, or more often for an additional fee. You will be trained in the use of the gym equipment and may exercise as often as you like during business hours. Monitoring of blood pressure and oxygen saturation is free and available upon request.
2)
Assisted Fitness: not everyone is able to exercise alone, due to disability, effects of aging or disease, or cognitive status. We offer an assisted fitness program for the elderly or less abled with one to one assistance provided by an athletic trainer to complete a program designed to meet individual fitness needs, whether to maintain range of movement, balance, strength, endurance, or general mobility. Many of our clients enjoy the camaraderie of the clinic atmosphere and the social aspect of exercise as well.
3)
Myofascial Release: this is a hands on technique used during physical therapy treatments, but also following discharge from treatment to maintain or improve the mobility of the myofascial system. Myofascia (muscle fascia) is a contiguous web of connective tissue extending throughout the body from head to toe encasing and separating individual muscles, joints, blood vessels, and nerves, helping our body work together as a whole unit. Restricted movement in the myofascia can cause discomfort and over time can restrict movement. Myofascial release therapy is gentle, relaxing, and feels like stretching the tissue, more than pressure, until the restriction in the fascia is "released" or resolved.
4)
Massage therapy: differs from Myofascial therapy because it places more emphasis on muscle fiber and blood flow. Muscle fibers and blood flow run in specific directions, vs. fascia which runs in many directions. Massage therapy can help reduce tension in tight muscles or parts of muscles that are tight and restore normal tone and blood flow.
Speech and Language Services
We assess speech and language development and to treat language, speech, and swallowing disorders resulting from brain injury or other causes.
