Neurological Rehabilitation
Neurological injury or illness can be a result of stroke, which is due to either a blood clot that lodges in the brain, or a ruptured vessel in the brain, both stopping the flow of oxygen and nutrients to that part of the brain, resulting in brain damage.

The severity and nature of the damage depends on what area of the brain and how much of the brain is involved. A stroke generally results in loss of use to some degree of the arm and leg on one side of the body.

The person may also be unable to communicate clearly, have difficulty swallowing, have difficulty understanding body orientation, such as where exactly straight is and how to position their body to be balanced.

Because many things are involved as a result of a stroke we provide different services to address those problems.

Physical Therapy works with balance, mobility, and strength.

Occupational Therapy works with hand and arm function, object manipulation for daily living activities such as eating and dressing, and ability to recognize shapes and objects. Speech Therapy works with ability to communicate, organize thoughts, and swallowing. We all work together with the patient and family to achieve as much return of function and independence in the shortest amount of time.

There are many other neurological problems that have different manifestations but frequently require treatment by PT, OT, and Speech. Just a few of these include multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, to name just a few. We have the resources here to treat your problems in an outpatient setting.
